The ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic and surge of its variants has created a situation beyond the Society’s control that has made it impractical and impossible for ASTMH to hold the meeting in person. It is therefore with regret that our Society is forced to cancel the in-person portion of the 2021 meeting at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, November 17-21.
I know that we were looking forward to gathering together again in person, but the ongoing pandemic has proven to be too much and we will have to wait until 2022 in Seattle to see each other. Nonetheless, as a community of scientists accustomed to many obstacles, we will embrace this opportunity to engage our global friends and colleagues virtually. The ASTMH team is working diligently to make the virtual format a rewarding and interactive experience so we can enhance our important work and continue to learn from and with each other.
